In this second shop-window image the totemic appearance of the massive face gazing out from one realm into another struck Chris as having a somewhat unsettling (Orwellian, even?) feel about it. In part he puts this down to the fact that the face is slightly shaded. As he writes:-

"In this case the dominant killer feature is the disproportionately large-sized advertisement picture of a face which, despite its prodigious size, doesn't get immediately noticed. This is due, I feel, to the way it seems to lurk in the shadow cast by the shop front. Add to that the fact that the street that it watches is devoid of passers-by - and you are left feeling that the whole situation is lent a distinctly meanacing air...

Like an unsprung ambush, in need of a victim".

Another example of Chris' shop front images, "No Other Gods", does not show the street per se and as such is to be found here, in the SingleShot Miscellaneous collection.
