London from the Barbican: Passing Rain

Panoramic Cityscapes

Image Size 40x105cm | Edition of 50 | Prices: Image only £300 ...and Archivally mounted £345 ...and Fully Framed £455

Another view of the City of London from the 30th floor balcony in the Barbican's Shakespeare Tower.

In their original commission, the clients requested a series of images, to reflect the dramatically changing view in different light and weather conditions. This rain cloud version has a more muted palette of colours - and a much more "brooding" feel.

As to the view itself: The dwarfed church of St. Giles Cripplegate is a survivor of both the Great Fire and the Blitz; Shakespeare Tower's sister blocks of Cromwell and Lauderdale Towers are left and right respectively. The more distant landmarks of The City are almost silhouetted in this version as the heavy skies above them give way to suggestions of brightness beyond.
