The Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich

SingleShot Cityscapes

Image Size 26x39cm | Edition of 100 | Prices: Image only £95 ...and Archivally mounted £115 ...and Fully Framed £175

Like "Column, St Pauls Churchyard", earlier in this collection, this image features close at hand pillars and a more distant dome. And again Chris has played with these elements in the camera's viewfinder by adopting a low vantage point and manipulating the resulting converging verticals to give emphasis to the latter.

This particular dome is one of two built as the Royal Hospital for Seamen by Christopher Wren in 1692 although from 1873 it morphed into the Royal Naval College - remaining such for the next 125 years. It is now recognised as a World Heritage Site.
